چکیده

Within the past year the mode of action of biotin has become increasingly clarified. The relation of this vitamin to oxalacetic acid decarboxylation was discovered independently in at least four laboratories (l-l), while its apparent role in the synthesis of oleic acid has been suggested by Williams et al. (5) and Snell et al. (6). Biotin has further been shown to activate the deamination of aspartic acid, serine, and threonine (7). This paper is concerned with biotin activation of the deaminases.

The comparative effects of biocytin and a yeast extract concentrate on aspartic acid deaminase.

Wright et al. (1949) announced the isolation in crystalline form of a naturally occurring complex of biotin from yeast, designated as biocytin. The possible metabolic role of biocytin in aspartic acid deaminase was studied by these investigators and the results showed that it was less active than an equivalent of biotin in the stimulation of this enzyme in aged bacterial suspensions. Inasmuch a...

Synthesis and Functionalization of Gold Nanoparticles by Using of Poly Functional Amino Acids

Synthesis and characterization of two functionalized gold nanoparticles by using of two poly functional amino acids (L-Arginine and L-Aspartic acid) are reported. The gold nanoparticles were reduced by sodium citrate and functionalized with L-Arginine at the pH of 7 and 11 and L-Aspartic acid at the pH of 7. Transmission electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, zeta p...

Identification of amino acids in Securigera securidaca, a popular medicinal herb in Iranian folk medicine

Securigera securidaca (L.) Degen & Dorfl grows in different parts of Iran. The seeds of the species are used in Iranian folk medicine as an anti-diabetic agent. Many studies have established hypoglycemic effects of amino acids and in the present investigation, amino acids of Securigera securidaca seeds have been evaluated. The ground seeds were extracted using petroleum ether,...

Evidence for the coenzymatic nature of a synthetic cofactor involved in the biotin related deaminase systems.

Welhave!reported previously (Christman and Williams, 1952) concerning the synthes of a specific activator for aspartic acid deaminase by the sulfuric acid degradation of carbohydrates. The immediate conclusion arising from this observation was that biotin and adenylic acid could not be constituents of the "coenzyme" although the mode of action of the enzyme system and its activators remained to...
